Bacon Chocolate Roses
Ingredients
250g Henderson’s Middle Bacon
¼ cup manuka honey
2 tbsp brown sugar
Cracked black pepper
½ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 240°C. Roll up each strip of bacon, with the pink, meaty part of the bacon on top. Secure the roll with a toothpick then add a second toothpick to form an X (this will create a little frame to help your ‘roses’ sit upright)
Step 2
Place a wire rack on top of a large baking sheet, then place bacon roses on top, about 3cm apart.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, brown sugar, and a good amount of black pepper. Brush mixture onto each bacon rose.
Step 4
Bake until bacon is a deep red and the outer edges are crispy, 40 to 45 minutes.
Step 5
Once the roses are cooled completely, take out the toothpicks and then dip the bottoms in chocolate. Allow chocolate to set before serving.
